Dental Checkups & Teeth Cleanings for Kids

When you first bring your son or daughter in for a regular checkup, our team will make sure they feel relaxed and at ease. Then, Dr. Niki Jayswal will gently examine their mouth, which may involve capturing digital X-rays. This helps her evaluate whether your child’s teeth and jaws are developing as they should, and if any problems do arise, she can address them early on. Our  team will also clean your little one’s pearly whites to reduce the buildup of cavity-causing plaque.

Dental Sealants

Your child’s back teeth can be particularly susceptible to cavities. Not only are these teeth difficult for little hands to reach (especially if your son or daughter is still learning to brush), but they contain deep fissures where food debris can get trapped. To combat this heightened risk of decay, we offer dental sealants, which involve applying a clear plastic coating over the vulnerable surfaces. Once in place, sealants can protect these teeth from harmful bacteria for up to 10 years.

Fluoride Treatments

Regular fluoride exposure can help your little one’s teeth become stronger and more resilient to decay. In fact, this naturally occurring mineral can also strengthen a child’s adult teeth before they’ve even started to come in! To give your child an additional boost of protection in the fight against cavities, we can quickly and painlessly paint a thin, concentrated fluoride gel over their teeth once we’ve finished with their cleaning.

Frenectomies/ Lip & Tongue-Tie Treatment

When the small band of tissue underneath the tongue or lip (called the frenulum) is too short or thick, movement of the tongue or lip can become restricted. This is called a lip or tongue tie. Your baby might have a difficult time feeding, which could impact their nutrition and growth. These conditions can even lead to speech delays down the line. Luckily, Dr. Jayswal can correct these issues with a frenectomy. A soft tissue laser is used to gently remove excess tissue in the frenulum to restore a child’s oral function and movement. The whole procedure typically takes only a few minutes!

Athletic Mouthguards

If your child is involved in sports, even ones that don’t involve contact, their smile will need to be protected from any accidental impacts. The athletic mouthguards you can find at the pharmacy or sporting goods store aren’t custom-made for your child’s teeth, meaning they’re less comfortable and therefore less likely to be worn. On the other hand, our dental office can provide a mouthguard that is personalized to ensure the perfect fit and defense for your little one’s smile.
